House Rehab Intervention – March ’24

The story of Mr. and Mrs. Musyoka and their family is truly inspiring, showcasing the positive impact that community  intervention and support can have on the lives of those facing challenges. The Musyoka family’s situation, particularly  with Mr. Musyoka living with a disability, highlights the additional hurdles that families may encounter.

The fact that Mr. Musyoka, the breadwinner, faces physical limitations due to his disability makes the support provided  even more crucial. The initiative to register him for health insurance under the National Health Insurance Fund (N.H.I.F)  is a commendable step. This not only enables him to access necessary healthcare services but also facilitates  physiotherapy, addressing a previously unmet need and contributing to his overall well-being. The living conditions of the Musyoka family further underscore the challenges they face. Initially living in a crowded  room provided by Good Samaritan after their original house became uninhabitable. The family found themselves in a  precarious situation when the landowner decided to sell the property. This prompted the family’s urgent need for a  new shelter.

The intervention of the organization which was buying all roofing materials and labor expenses was timely. The com munity’s voluntary contribution in molding bricks and participating in the construction process reflects a shared sense  of responsibility and empathy towards the Musyoka family. The family is grateful of the support they received from  WWN and the new habitable house that they pride themselves in.
