Dear Friends,
I am hoping this newsletter finds you well and excited for this new year. I have been asked recently if the work in Kenya was still occurring by some of you. That answer is a definite YES. As you can read in the following pages, a lot happened in 2023. As you read each story I would like you to remember that none of what is reported could have occurred without your continued support and donations.
As the entire world continues to recover from the pandemic and economic fallout so follows Watoto Wenye Nguvu. Our feeding program continues to be the cornerstone to our program in Kenya. We continue to have a strong presence in 10 different schools feeding over 4000 children daily. In 2023 through the generous donations from you, a new kitchen and feeding area were constructed at one of our primary schools. This new kitchen with its high efficiency wood burning stoves now enable us to cook and provide safe and healthy meals each day. This small act of providing food has a strong ripple effect throughout the community and impacts the children’s lives in multiple layers.
All of us at Children of Strength and our Friends in Kenya send you our sincere Thanks for being part of this work. Your faithful support has given hope to so many children as well as adults in the Kilimambogo Area. We have big plans for 2024. It has been several years in the planning but it appears WWN will be installing solar panels down at the River site where we pump water for both irrigation and domestic use. This will enable us to install a new electric motor and pump, which is way more reliable and cost effective than the diesel one
that is currently inoperable. In any agricultural area water security is essential to life and this upgrade will greatly enhance our ability to supply much needed water.
It has been over four years since I have visited Kenya and I am looking forward to returning there this year to see all the children and community.
Until next time.
Blessings,
Chris Valentino and the COS Team
